Minister Gajdoš meets with Swedish Ambassador Eduards

Slovak Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš today (16 July) received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Slovakia, Her Excellency Ms Helen Eduards, at MOD Main Building. On this occasion, Minister Gajdoš thanked the Swedish Government for the fair and solid bid of the JAS Gripen fighter jets it made to the Slovak Government. Topics of common interest were dominated by bilateral defence cooperation and security issues.
SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “I trust the cooperation between our countries will go on at an excellent level just as has been the case thus far, even though our government has adopted a different solution to its future fleet of supersonic fighter jets. We remain absolutely open to further cooperation [with Sweden].”
The Minister informed the Swedish Ambassador about the state of play of current and future modernization programmes in the SVK Armed Forces, and that staff-to-staff talks on the stand-up of EU Battle Groups (EU BGs) and PESCO projects could be held between the Slovak General Staff and the Swedish Defence Staff.
