Minister Gajdoš highlights the potential of SVK defence industry at IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi

Defence Minister Gajdoš took part in the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2019 in Abu Dhabi, where he highlighted the potential of the SVK defence industry today (17 February 2019). Through his presence at one of the largest events of its kind in the world, he supported the presentation of the SVK defence industry in furtherance of the Slovak Government and Slovak National Party (SNS) Manifestos.
Speaking at IDEX 2019, Defence Minister Gajdoš said: “We have definitely something to be proud of. Right from the outset, I have always said that we wish to revive the domestic armaments industry, because it means more work for Slovak citizens and economic growth. So, for example, if there is any interest in our state-of-the-art ZUZANA 2 Self-propelled Gun Howitzers, which have been trialled here with very positive results, we are ready to respond to any request immediately.” He confirmed that representatives of the UAE Armed Forces view the outcomes of the ZUZANA 2 capability assessment trials positively as well. He continued: “While supporting Slovak defence manufacturers in line with the SVK Government Manifesto, we have been taking steps to help them break into international markets.”
Among the SVK exhibitors at IDEX 2019 were MOD-owned joint stock companies DMD GROUP and Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín as well as other SVK defence manufacturers such as EVPÚ, MSM Group, NIXUS – Zepelin, VRM, and Way Industries.
The International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2019 is the only international defence exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region where over 1,000 exhibitors from 96 countries display their land, sea and air products and technologies, using 133,000sqm of exhibition space.
IDEX is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
