SVK Air Force pilots to present capabilities and new air assets at SIAF 2019

At the Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF) 2019 to be held at Sliač Air Base on 3-4 August 2019, Slovak Air Force pilots will present to the public the capabilities for protecting Slovak airspace and new air assets, delivered as part of the largest modernization of the Slovak Armed Forces. At the event, Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín (LOTN), a state-run joint stock company operating under the SVK Ministry of Defence, will be presented as a strategic industrial partner for the Slovak F-16 and UH-60M Black Hawk modernization programmes. This will allow visitors to find out more about the processes inevitably associated with the fielding of most advanced air assets to the Slovak Air Force, including maintenance, logistics, and training.

13 countries will be represented at SIAF 2019. The Slovak Air Force will present itself with 11 military aircraft, including UH-60M Black Hawk and Mi-17 helicopters, a C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, and MiG-29 fighter jets. In addition to exhibiting aircraft in the static aircraft park, the Slovak Air Force will put on an array of flying displays, with SVK military pilots showing off their capabilities during demonstrations of various missions to protect Slovak airspace.

Professional airmen of the Tactical Wing Sliač, where SIAF takes place regularly, have uninterruptedly protected and defended the inviolability of Slovak airspace. SIAF is here to demonstrate the readiness and proficiency of SVK AF pilots and flying personnel to operate in their roles.

Apart from aircraft, airshow goers will have an opportunity to see first-hand vehicles and systems in service with the Slovak military, for example, the SVK Army’s Zuzana Self-propelled Gun Howitzer, main battle tank, infantry fighting vehicle, and launchers. They will also have a chance to view the Vydra 8x8 IFV prototype close up. Moreover, the Army Recruitment Team will be available to members of the public and potential candidates to provide information on active duty service in the Armed Forces, Voluntary Military Training (VMT), and Active Reserves (AR).
