Residents of Banská Bystrica and surrounding municipalities notified of final military parade rehearsal

The Ministry of Defence has notified residents of Banská Bystrica and the surrounding municipalities of the final military parade rehearsal to be held from 21:00 to 06:00 on the night of 27/28 August 2019. The final parade rehearsal is part of preparations by Slovak servicemen and women for the military parade to mark the 75th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising Anniversary.
Because of the full practice run through of the parade, traffic restrictions for residents of Banská Bystrica and the surrounding municipalities will be in place and partial road closures will be implemented. Parts of the roads R1, 1/66 and 1/69 will be closed from 18:00 to 07:00 on the night of 27/28 August 2019. Traffic will be regulated by military policemen and service personnel in cooperation with the SVK Police Corps.
The MOD wishes to apologise to residents of Banská Bystrica and the affected municipalities for any inconveniences which may be caused by increased noise levels and traffic restrictions during the final parade rehearsal and the military parade itself. The MOD calls on the public to keep a safe distance from military vehicles and respect the instructions of military policemen. Parachute drops by 5th SOF Regiment paratroopers will be rehearsed from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00 on 27 August 2019 and at the same times on 28 August 2019. Flypasts of SVK Air Force aircraft will be rehearsed from 14:00 to 16:30 on 27 and 28 August 2019.
Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš and Armed Forces leaders will be available to media representatives to answer their questions at the venue of the rehearsal in Banská Bystrica from 21:00 on 27 August 2019.
