Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď meets with U.S. Ambassador Bridget A. Brink

Since assuming his appointment, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has today for the first time met with the U.S. Ambassador to Slovakia, Her Excellency Mrs Bridget A. Brink, for talks at MOD Main Building. According to the U.S. Ambassador, Central Europe is a priority region for the current U.S. administration. At the meeting, Minister Naď and Ambassador Brink devoted their attention to combating the COVID-19 infection and addressed the MOD's priorities for the coming period. Head of the MOD outlined the measures adopted by the SVK Government and the SVK Central Crisis Staff to defeat coronavirus. 

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď stated: "The current crisis over coronavirus is our common problem, which is why we must look for common solutions. I am immensely pleased that we stick together and pull the rope in one direction as responsible Allies at this difficult time."  

U.S. Ambassador Bridget A. Brink appreciated Slovakia's commitment to delivering on its pledges in the NATO Alliance and highlighted the irreplaceable role of SVK service members on international crisis management operations. Ambassador Brink  said: "The U.S. and Slovakia have a broad and enduring defense relationship, based on shared values and partnership within the NATO Alliance."

Head of the MOD informed the U.S. Ambassador about the priorities of the newly appointed SVK Government in the field of defence and security and presented the activity of the Slovak Armed Forces in support of the State to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

The Minister and the Ambassador also spoke about the projects of common interest as part of the bilateral defence engagement.
