Minister J. Naď fulfils his promise about deepening cooperation and support for SVK defence companies by taking on new special adviser for domestic defence industry

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has had a new special adviser for domestic defence industry since 1 August 2020. Peter Koreň was nominated for this position by the SVK Security and Defence Industry Association (ZBOP). So, the head of the MOD is fulfilling his promise, which he gave to SVK defence manufacturers when he took to office, to deepen the cooperation between the Association and the MOD.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I am very pleased that my team will be strengthened by a subject matter expert who has truly rich experience in the field of armaments industry, manufacture and trade. Apart from this, he also worked for long years in the Ministry of Defence, where he acquired valuable expertise directly in the field of armaments.” As he noted, providing effective and practical support to SVK defence industry will be the main area of mutual cooperation. “Indeed, this marks a truly important step which, I believe, will get the cooperation with our companies going in the right direction. Unlike my predecessors, I want to deliver real results, not words,” he added.

P. Koreň will be responsible for consultations on the cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic and the SVK Security and Defence Industry Association and represent the MOD in fielding new weapons and equipment to the Slovak Armed Forces. As part of his agenda, he will keep the MOD updated on the production and supply capacities of ZBOP members. He will also help ZBOP entities gain ground on international markets.

The Minister of Defence has concluded a contract with Peter Koreň for the period between 1 August 2020 and 31 December 2020. Based on the contract, he will work 1 hour a week and earn 3.333 euros an hour before tax.
