New Director General announced at Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín (LOTN)

Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín (LOTN), an MOD-run joint stock company, will have a new Director General with effect from 1 September 2020. Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has authorised Ľubomír Galko to lead the company until a proper and regular selection procedure for the post takes place. He is to replace the outgoing Director General, Vladimír Šimanský, as well as taking up the appointment of Chairman of the Board of Directors.

On the change of leadership at LOTN, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď commented: “Ľubomír Galko takes indisputable credit for fighting corruption and has a wealth of managerial experience from different areas – he is thoroughly familiar with Defence as he served in the capacity of Defence Minister, he was also a Member of Parliament and a manager in private companies.” He added that Ľ. Galko has adequate security clearance for the post.

The head of the MOD wants to utilise Ľ. Galko’s expertise in order to fight corruption and introduce greater transparency into the processes within the state-owned company. “In the past, he went after such [corruption] cases particularly hard. That is why I rely on him to approach Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín in the same way. The former MOD leadership has left the company in very bad numbers and in a condition that has not much in common with transparency,” he emphasised, adding that he will continue to replace individuals holding managerial posts across Defence, where justified and necessary.

A proper and regular selection procedure for the post of Director General of Aircraft Repair Company Trenčín (LOTN) is scheduled to take place within the next 6 months.
