Granit Hotel in Nová Polianka once again serves soldiers and members of public after today′s opening by Defence Minister Naď

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď, Defence State Secretary Marian Majer and Secretary General of the MOD′s Service Office Peter Kozák opened the newly refurbished Granit Hotel in Nová Polianka, run by MOD-owned joint stock company HOREZZA, during an opening ceremony in the High Tatras. With the extensive refurbishment now complete, the hotel will serve the needs of professional soldiers and the wider public. The refurbished facility will offer its visitors a range of services, including health treatment procedures. The overall costs related to refurbishment work amounted to approx. €6m.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I am pleased that despite the delay in the original plans, we′ve managed, even during the pandemic and whilst sparing no effort, to complete the hotel′s scheduled reconstruction which has since the very beginning been marked by many problems, on which I will report to the public in the coming weeks. I hope the hotel will be appreciated mainly by service members and the wider public, because what awaits them here is well-deserved rest and relaxation.”

Director General of MOD-owned joint stock company HOREZZA Július Kolocsányi said: “The Granit Hotel Nová Polianka has seen several changes to the interior design. While visitors to the hotel can be looking forward to modern furniture, some historical elements have been preserved, as the hotel is a national cultural site.”

The Granit Hotel in Nová Polianka offers 74 rooms with an accommodation capacity of 121 beds (extra beds bring the total number of beds to 134). Today the hotel provides accommodation, catering and wellness services. Also planned for launch are different health treatments such as thermal packs, hydromassage baths and whirlpool baths, whereas the portfolio of medical services is set to be extended.

There are plans to upgrade and operate a unique retro cinema, with a seating capacity of 175 seats, in the hotel.
