Apart from 45 “red” high risk districts, the second round of mass testing on 7-8 November 2020 will go ahead also in 13 “green” districts, where testing was originally not scheduled to take place. These will be set up by local authorities who have officially approached the Slovak Armed Forces for assistance.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “We’ve decided to act on these requests and provide tests, certificates, documentation and military and police personnel for the test sites set up in locations over and above the plan. But, as this was explicitly born out of the initiative of local authorities, whom we appreciate as responsible actors, local authorities are obliged to supply medical and administrative staff, hygienist-approved test sites, personal protective equipment, disinfectants and hand sanitisers.”
20 local authorities have set up 20 test centres, staffed by 25 testing teams, in the “green” districts, including Banská Štiavnica, Bratislava, Komárno, Košice, Krupina, Lučenec, Poltár, Revúca, Rimavská Sobota, Veľký Krtíš, Zlaté Moravce, Žarnovica and Žiar nad Hronom. The test centres in the districts of Banská Štiavnica, Krupina, Lučenec, Revúca, Veľký Krtíš, Žarnovica and Žiar nad Hronom will be open on Saturday only, while those in the other districts will be open over both days of the weekend. They all are listed at www.somzodpovedny.sk.
As well as supporting local authorities, the Armed Forces are into their final preparations for the second round of mass testing in 45 “red” high risk districts across Slovakia. 2,819 test sites, staffed by 2,731 testing teams, will be opening on Saturday, while 2,734 test sites with 2,668 testing teams will be operational on Sunday. Given that the border towns and districts are expected to cope with an increased influx of people from other areas and the public’s increased interest in testing, the Armed Forces have designated 66 test sites where they will strengthen their capacity.
Country-wide testing for COVID-19 is aimed at residents, aged 10 and over, who live in the districts where positivity rates of 0.7% and above were reported last weekend and at people who need to visit the districts on 9-14 November 2020, with exemptions set out in respective Government Decree. Also, the Ministry of Defence announces that people who missed the 1st round of the nation-wide testing last weekend are allowed to get tested without punishment this coming weekend. For their journey to take an antigen test, which is deemed to be an essential examination and an exemption from the obligation to stay in self-isolation, they won’t face any punishment.
