Defence Minister J. Naď thanks all those who have come to get tested, 31,548 people have been tested as at 12:00

As at 12:00 on Saturday, 31,548 people have come to be mass-tested in 458 cities, towns and villages across Slovakia. Of them, 602 have tested positive, equating to 1.91% of all people tested. Regional Points of Command (RPC) Zvolen and Hlohovec have reported the highest incidence rates of 2.65% and 2.27%, respectively.

Testing has been smooth at all of the 541 test sites, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď announced in Púchov today. “Compared to the previous round of testing, around 1/3 of people have turned out for a test. People are coming gradually, no queues are being formed, and no cases of people coming from other regions to get tested in the selected municipalities have been reported. I am pleased to announce that things are just as we asked people to do in advance, because mayors wanted to find out what the level of contamination in their self-governing areas was,” he explained.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď is thankful to all mayors of cities, towns and villages taking part in the fourth round of mass testing for their interest and help. Despite initial concerns and a bit lower levels of cooperation in preparation for testing during the week, all test sites have opened in every municipality as planned. “An overwhelming majority of mayors have adopted a supportive stance towards testing in order to reduce coronavirus morbidity rates and so improve the situation in individual cities, towns and villages. This is about not only the health of individuals, but also about the health of the entire society, and this particular form of testing does help a lot,” he emphasised.

Testing has been arranged as with all previous rounds of testing. All test sites are very well stocked up on material and testing is in progress until 20:00 tonight. Compared to the previous round of testing, there is a change to the remuneration of medical personnel. This time they will be paid 200 euros per day. When it comes to recording the data of those tested, a distinction is being made between those with a permanent place of residence in the municipalities and those coming from other municipalities. Test data will be made available to regional health authorities within 48 hours, just as with previous rounds of testing.

Among those joining Phase 4 of the mass population testing are 1,366 MOD military and civilian personnel, 539 members of the Police Corps, 1,928 medical personnel, 62 members of the Financial Administration Authority, 30 firefighters, 921 administrative aids and 30 volunteers. This means a total of 4,876 people are involved in testing efforts.
