The DUKLA Banská Bystrica Military Sports Centre has launched an information campaign on the pre-Olympic training for its sportsmen and women who have qualified for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. This includes thematical blogs on social media channels and the Centre's website, as well as video podcasts presented by former SVK National Team biathlete turned Dukla employee Anastasiya Kuzmina. The campaign will embrace the spirit of the hashtag #armedforTokyo2020.
Director of the Military Sports Centre Lt Col Roman Benčík said: “It is the biggest dream of every sportsman and woman to make it to the world's most prestigious sporting event – the Olympic Games. All employees of the DUKLA Military Sports Centre work towards fulfilling this dream. And we are always immensely happy when yet another dream of the SVK National Team members comes true – when they bring home an Olympic medal for the Slovak Nation. This will be the case this year too. Please keep your fingers crossed for us, so that we can make it happen.” Lt Col Benčík appeared as the first guest on a video podcast entitled “A Word With Nastyia”, which was dedicated to the interesting stories and successes of DUKLA sportspeople from the previous years of the Summer Olympics.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Adjusting one's life to the pandemic and paying thorough attention to protecting one's health is, undoubtedly, challenging for all people, not to mention our sportsmen and women who are getting ready for the Olympic Games. Through the Military Sports Centre, we do our maximum best to create the right conditions they need, and, of course, we will keep our fingers crossed and cheer for them all the way through.”
Operating under the remit of the Ministry of Defence, the DUKLA Banská Bystrica Military Sports Centre delivers training for SVK National Team sportsmen and women in Defence.
