Military Forests and Estates is delivering its concept for greener and cleaner Defence

SVK Military Forests and Estates (VLM), state-owned enterprise (SOE), continues to deliver its vision for supporting and protecting the environment. As part of this vision for a greener and cleaner Defence, VLM is replacing its vehicles as they transition out of service. Most recently, some of its obsolete vehicles have been replaced by eight new Dacia Duster SUVs with combined petrol and LPG fuel tanks.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I am very pleased that we have been successful in gradually delivering this vision for “a cleaner Ministry of Defence“. Of course, these steps take place in gradual stages and each such project contributes towards one of our main goals – to create a more ecological and cleaner environment for us all.”

Director General of VLM Ján Jurica gave clarity as to what the requirement for selecting new vehicles was – a lower carbon footprint. “Not only will the use of the new vehicles deliver savings by almost half, but a more ecological operation of the vehicles is also a significant benefit,” said Director General of VLM Ján Jurica.

One of the strategic goals of SVK Military Forests and Estates SOE is to manage the company in an ecologically sustainable manner, and this principle will be applied where VLM's vehicle capability reaches a point of obsolescence.
