Col Victor Sabo appointed Chaplain-in-Chief of Ecumenical Pastoral Service in SVK Armed Forces and Armed Corps

Col Victor Sabo was appointed Chaplain-in-Chief of the Office of Ecumenical Pastoral Service (EPS) in the SVK Armed Forces and Armed Corps at the Holy Trinity Church in Bratislava's Petržalka today (24 June 2021). The appointment ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď, Health Minister Vladimír Lengvarský, Deputy Defence Minister Marian Majer, Members of Parliament, and MOD and Armed Forces officials.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “I am honoured to have known Viktor since 2011 when we first met in Afghanistan. Everyone who has had a chance to get to know Colonel Sabo even a little bit will agree with me that he is the right man in the right place. As a Protestant chaplain in the Slovak Armed Forces, he has been fully devoted to providing spiritual guidance to our service personnel with his genuine professionalism and passion for the past 15 years, even in difficult times.”

The head of the Defence Ministry wished the new Chaplain-in-Chief lots of strength and the best of success in his new position. He drew attention to the importance of the Office of Ecumenical Pastoral Service and the Bishopric of the Forces and their active role in the Slovak Armed Forces.

Col Victor Sabo is the second longest-serving chaplain of Ecumenical Pastoral Service and the longest-serving chaplain of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession (ECAC) in Slovakia. Prior to his promotion to Colonel and appointment as Chaplain-in-Chief of the Office of Ecumenical Pastoral Service in the SVK Armed Forces and Armed Corps, he served as the ECAC Dean of the Gen M. R. Štefánik Armed Forces Academy Liptovský Mikuláš. He has completed two tours of duty abroad.
