New lieutenants graduate from Armed Forces Academy

Having successfully finished their studies at the General M. R. Štefánik Armed Forces Academy, 68 cadets attended the graduation ceremony, received their Master of Engineering (MEng) and Magister (Mgr) degrees in four different study programmes, and were promoted to the most junior officer rank of Lieutenant.

Speaking in appreciation of the Academy's role, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “The Armed Forces deal with domestic and international crisis management tasks on a daily basis, which requires adequate expertise and skills. I am pleased there is lots of interest in pursuing studies at the Academy, which places high demands on the education and training of future military professionals. I congratulate all graduates and wish them to serve their country to the best of their strength and ability.”

The graduation ceremony also saw the naming of the Academy's Best Graduate, the award of a cash prize for the best study results, the gifting of a Defence Minister's present for successful completion of a military course at a French national training centre.

The newly commissioned officers will move on to work with SVK Armed Forces units based on their branch specialisation.
