The Ministry of Defence has launched the process of accepting applications for the 2022 Active Reserves (AR) training programme. The applicants who meet the criteria set by law should visit the Army recruitment teams, located in Slovakia's regional capitals depending on their place of residence, or forward their application forms electronically no later than 24 September 2021. For more information on the application process and the Army recruitment teams, go to Aktivne zálohy.
The Active Reserves (AR) undergo training to provide assistance in emergencies and to perform the tasks of the Slovak Armed Forces in mitigating the effects of disasters. AR soldiers are entitled to 600 euros per year as financial motivation, provided that they have passed through 75% of the regular training programme. In addition to this, they are also entitled to a commensurate amount of rank-based military pay for the training period. While on training or exercise, both the employees and the self-employed workers have their salaries, social payments and health insurance premiums refunded by the MOD.
The 2022 Active Reserves training programme will be focused on trade-specific training in such areas as Army Command, mechanised troops, signals, logistics, CBRN, military management and exercises, special operations, engineer support, and other capabilities required by the Slovak Armed Forces. The AR training programme will be conducted for the Defence Staff, SVK Army HQ Trenčín, HQ 1 Mechanised Brigade Topoľčany, HQ 2 Mechanised Brigade Prešov, 21 Mechanised Battalion Trebišov, 5 Special Forces Regiment Žilina, Engineer Battalion Sereď, CBRN Defence Battalion Rožňava, Training and Mobilisation Manning Base Martin, and Military Police.
Looking into the future, the Ministry of Defence is planning to introduce a change in legislation to allow members of the public without soldiering skills to join the Active Reserves and to incorporate basic military training into the Active Reserves training programme.
