The SVK Armed Forces have a large number of containers in their inventory. However, the handling of containers is always complicated without proper load handling equipment. At today's handover ceremony held at the Technical and Testing Institute Záhorie, members of the SVK Army have taken over the last piece from the first delivery of four MAGNI Telescopic Container Handlers. The heavy duty telehandlers are capable of handling ISO 1A, B, C, CC and D containers, while using the crane's superstructure, traverse lift and forklift loader with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tonnes.
As Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď explained, the new telehandlers will be used by the SVK Army's Rail Operations Unit, which, falling under the command of the Logistics Battalion Hlohovec, was declared as Slovakia's commitment under its 2017 NATO Capability Targets. “The telescopic container handlers will be operated by soldiers who will take on assigned tasks, including in training. Additionally, they will be used for handling military supplies at the supply bases and for supporting domestic crisis management operations, if need be,” said Mr Naď.
