Defence Minister Naď: The security and stability of the wider Near East region has proven to be an important theme for Europe

In conducting military operations abroad, our cooperation with the SVK Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Diplomatic Service is of strategic importance, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said, while giving thanks to His Excellency Ladislav Ballek, Slovak Ambassador to Iran who is also accredited to Afghanistan and Pakistan, for his prompt collaboration and support in evacuating people from Afghanistan.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Over the past months, the security and stability of the wider Near East region has proven to be an important theme for Europe, given that regional developments have a direct impact on the actions of the international community. The situation in Afghanistan, being a case in point, tested and confirmed the readiness of all those involved in the challenging evacuation process.”

During their conversation, Minister Naď and Ambassador Ballek put forward their understanding of the current security and political situation in the countries of the Near East and of the associated security threats. Alongside this, Mr Naď updated Mr Ballek on the MOD's steps forward in developing the SVK Armed Forces, including in delivering equipment programmes and Allied commitments.
