Ukraine receives the first batch of Slovakia's Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer guns

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Ukraine has taken delivery of the first batch of a total of 8 Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer guns, which Slovakia committed to supply under a commercial sales contract awarded earlier this June to KONŠTRUKTA - Defence, a state-owned joint stock company, which falls under the remit of the SVK MOD.

Speaking of the field artillery systems, Director General of KONŠTRUKTA - Defence JSC Alexander Gurský said: “Based on the concluded sales contract, the Ukrainian side has taken over the first four Zuzana 2 155mm self-propelled howitzer guns.“

According to Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď, it is also thanks to the delivery of this contract that Slovakia has joined other countries whose assistance is most palpable in Ukraine. “Dialogue with our Ukrainian partners is regular, intense and led in a way to ensure that our aid for Ukraine is as impactful as possible, most tailor-made, and, ultimately, life-saving. Because that is our primary goal – to contribute to saving as many lives as possible and to help our Ukrainian friends stop this groundless and limitless bloodshed,” he said.

Slovakia's howitzers will be of benefit to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as artillery systems – a key Combat Support (CS) element in the ongoing conflict – are used in a wide spectrum of operations in Ukraine, Minister Naď concluded.
