State Secretary Majer appreciates the quality of Slovak-Czech bilateral cooperation at the Future Forces Forum (FFF) in Prague

State Secretary Marian Majer attended the Future Forces Forum (FFF) opening ceremony at PVA Expo Prague, hosting the international expert community specialising in security & defence trends and technology. While at FFF 2022, State Secretary Majer took the opportunity to hold a series of meetings with top CZE MOD leaders – First Deputy Minister of Defence František Šulc, Deputy Minister of Defence Daniel Blažkovec, and Deputy Minister of Defence for Defence Policy and Planning Jan Jireš.
Speaking on the occasion, Marian Majer underlined that international cooperation and coordination is crucial today, even on modernisation and development of security forces as demand is high but availability is limited. In this respect, he appreciated the ability of Allies to cooperate effectively on strengthening collective security – whether through sharing information or managing joint procurement programmes, as with Slovakia and Czechia partnering on the contract for CV90 MkIV tracked armoured fighting vehicles.
In Marian Majer's assessment, this is SVK-CZE cooperation at its very best since the split-up of Czechoslovakia. “Some key examples of this include the Czech Republicʼs leadership of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup Slovakia, SVK-CZE involvement in several major defence projects, and Czechia and Polandʼs takeover of responsibility for safeguarding Slovak skies after the grounding of the Slovak Air Force MiG-29s,” he added.
Delegates at the Future Forces Forum (FFF) 2022 had the chance to hear from experts on over 20 panel discussions with the participation of NATO expert groups and to take a tour of the Future Forces Exhibition with over 200 exhibitors spearheading trends and showcasing innovative technology, including the newest systems at the Cyber Pavilion and the Signals Pavilion.
