Defence Minister declares the 26th Military Deed of the Year Awards open, members of the public are invited to send in their nominations too

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď has declared the 26th Military Deed of the Year Awards open. The Awards recognise and reward the extraordinary deeds of both those inside and outside the ranks of the Slovak Armed Forces in 2022. Members of the wide public, too, are invited to send in their nominations by email to cinroka@mod.gov.sk or regular mail no later than 28 February 2023.

For more information on the Awards and on how to nominate an individual or a team, go to Vojenský čin roka.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “For the past 25 years, the Awards have given large numbers of service members and civilians, men and women alike, well-deserved recognition and appreciation. They all have always had one thing in common – the readiness to act and sacrifice their time and efforts for others, often putting their lives in harmʼs way. As honour and modesty belong to them, I hope their colleagues, families and members of the public will help us with their nominations for the Awards.”

The Military Deed of the Year Awards fall into four categories: Rescue of Life, Assistance to the Public, A Friend of the Armed Forces, and Service to the Country.

Three nominees will be selected in each category by the nominations commission after 28 February 2023. The laureates of the Awards will then be decided by a panel of judges involving top Defence officials.
