Today (24 June 2022), representatives of the SVK Defence Staff (DS) and Multinational CIMIC Command (MN CIMIC CMD) Nienburg have signed an agreement to post SVK service personnel to this Command during a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Defence in Bratislava.
In the presence of German Ambassador Barbara Wolf and Director General of the SVK MOD's Defence Policy Department Martin Sklenár, the agreement was signed by Commander MN CIMIC CMD Nienburg Col Andreas Timm (DEU A) and Chief of J-10/DS Specialised Activities Col Štefan Zemanovič (SVK F). The Slovak Armed Forces have been an active member of MN CIMIC CMD Nienburg, established in 2019, since last year's autumn.
Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) is key to the non-lethal capabilities that have recently been in high demand in the military. This fact has led our Armed Forces to increase their capacities in this field in order to handle the COVID-19 pandemic and to coordinate the response to the influx of refugees ever since Day 1 of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Starting from this September, a SVK soldier will be posted to serve within MN CIMIC CMD structures. He will be responsible for the training of highly specialist service personnel. Whilst continuing to work closely with the Bundeswehr, this cooperation affords us opportunities to keep developing the skillsets of our service personnel under the Professional Development package.
