Press release from the V4 CHODs Meeting 14-16 NOV 2022



On 14-16 November 2022, the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the V4 countries met at the invitation of General Daniel ZMEKO, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.

The Chiefs of the General Staffs of the V4 Armed Forces confirmed the contributions to the main military activities of the V4 countries, paying special attention to the continuation of the V4 EU Joint Battle Group project.
The central theme of the V4 military cooperation under the Slovak Presidency is the adaptation of the armed forces to the new security realities in the region.

The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic said: “I am pleased that my colleagues have supported the new initiative of the Slovak V4 Presidency to promote the sharing of knowledge and practical experience from ongoing military operations, including closer cooperation between our armed forces and the armed forces of Ukraine. Our common goal is to make the best use of this valuable knowledge in the training and long-term development of our Armed Forces.”

At the joint meeting with the representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chiefs of General Staff of the V4 countries reiterated their condemnation of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and assured Ukraine of the continuation of military and non-military support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. SVK CHOD: " I hope that at the next meeting of the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the V4 countries, General Zaluzhny and I will jointly assess the benefits of concrete activities to promote the sharing of knowledge and experience at all levels of command of the Armed Forces."

An important topic of the meeting was also the impact of the significant increase in illegal migration on the security situation of the V4 countries and the support provided by the individual Armed Forces to national border and police forces in coping with the current wave of illegal migration.
